A Gentle Incline

I rolled off the rug and found the slanted leg of the coffee table. Propping my wooden handle against a thick open book gave me just enough slope. With a careful nudge of my body, I let the attached wooden ball swing downward over the edge. It swept in a slow, clean arc, brushing against the smooth tabletop before swinging back. I rested still, watching the string slowly wind down its rhythm until gravity took hold once more.
