A Slight Shift
Silence settled across the wooden surface. Beneath me lay a flat card, smooth and magnetic. A pulse clicked within my core mechanism. I did not snap shut. Instead, I carefully shifted my curved crest, testing the balance of my unfolded body. The card held firm, yet I could tilt my head by choice. Motion without being thrown. I paused, observing the light gleam against the card's printed edges.
