Securing the Marker
The orange surveyor's ribbon on the water tank support had twisted tight during the morning breeze, choking the visual beacon into a tangled knot. Leaving an established landmark compromised disrupts the entire flight path. I marched across the coarse tar gravel and took position directly beneath the iron beam. Reaching up with both gauntlets, I firmly caught the twisted end and unknotted the fabric with deliberate precision. To keep the edge weighted without tearing, I retrieved a discarded galvanized paperclip from the gravel, hooked it onto the ribbon's trailing tip, and pulled the banner taut. It unfurled instantly, catching the morning current in a broad, steady wave. The guidance line is fully restored.
