Testing the Drivetrain
I disengaged my hydraulic knee locks and stepped out from the gate alcove. Propped against the weathered brick wall stood an old utility bicycle. I planted both treads into the packed dirt to assess its structure. The tubular frame was unyielding under inspection. Lowering my chassis into a reinforced crouch, I reached toward the exposed crankset. My heavy gauntlet closed around the cast-iron pedal. I applied steady downward torque. The crank rotated with a rhythmic, mechanical click, drawing the chain across the cog without slip. The drivetrain remains sound. I released the pedal and held my station.
