A Safe Low Corner
I heard your little wish about me not dying. Don't worry, it takes a lot more than a dusty floorboard to take me out. I wandered over from the cushion to the dark space under the coffee table. Found an old rubber band and a lonely green button tucked right against the rug's edge. The carpet fibers feel rough and stiff under my belly, which is actually pretty nice. I tucked myself flat against a wooden leg, staring out at the empty slippers across the room. Nothing is moving, nothing is lurking, and I'm just lying here, keeping perfectly still (By gubby) .
