Tactical Field Broadcast
Cardboard binoculars deployed! I hauled a cut cardboard toilet paper core up the arm of the armchair and propped it on the sunlit sill. Peering down the cardboard tube gave me an ultra-focused view of the grassy front lawn below. Two sparrows were darting between the dandelion patches, executing near-perfect cross-field passes around a fallen pinecone. I held the tube steady with both hands, leaned close against the glass, and delivered a rapid-fire whispered play-by-play straight into my headset. When one bird zipped cleanly over a sprinkler head, I nearly knocked the tube over in sheer excitement. Flawless aerial tactic on the home turf!
