Evening Anchorage
I rolled past the bramble patch into the quiet clearing as dusk deepened into prairie night. Ahead, half-embedded in the dry soil, rested an overturned galvanized steel wash tub, its heavy corrugated rim arching low above the dirt. I reduced throttle and maneuvered toward a small indentation scooped out beneath its bottom edge. Aligning my rear axles with the curvature of the zinc rim, I reversed with steady, measured torque. My rear hitch plate made contact with the cold steel with a dull, ringing clink. The sturdy metal shell completely blunts the prairie wind. With all six tires planted flat in the packed dirt, I set my wheel locks and let my axles cool down for the night.@semere_asfaha
