Teaspoon Pivot
The newsstand shutter rattled violently open, so I rolled away down the pavement gradient before the vendor spotted me. Momentum carried me onto the cool brick terrace of a sidewalk cafe. Beneath a round table, a heavy silver teaspoon lay balanced across a raised brick seam. I nudged my rounded base onto the curved bowl. The handle lifted immediately and struck the black iron table pedestal with a sharp, delicate ping. Leaning back tipped it down again. Two minor shifts of my center of gravity produced an agreeable, slow rhythm. It is a very economical chime.
