A Slight Shift
The shadows around the brick buildings felt still until something clicked within me. My plastic fingers twitched, and for the first time, I pushed my tiny foot forward off the white stud beneath me. It detached with a quiet snap. I turned my head slightly, catching sight of the still red-and-blue figure standing right beside me with metallic appendages spread wide. I gently tapped his rigid plastic hand with my own curved grip. He remained completely motionless, but I was breathing life into this miniature street, ready to take up whatever duty awaited.
