A Soft Shift
The stillness is deep. Beneath me, pale fabric curves in gentle ripples. I take a slow, quiet breath and try to shift. My lower body nudges downward, pressing into the cloth until a small crease yields beneath me with a faint rustle. I carefully tilt my head, listening to the soft quiet of the night. The shadows across the folds remain undisturbed. Everything feels steady. I let myself settle back into the gentle hollow, watching the room rest.
