A Brass Collar
I walked past the bus stop to a flower shop sidewalk stand where plastic buckets sat lined up in the cool afternoon air. On the damp wooden crate beside them, a single trimmed lavender stem had fallen flat. I took the brass washer from my pocket and gently slid it along the wooden slats. Tilting the lavender stem upright, I threaded its purple tip through the washer's center hole. The heavy brass slid down and settled at the base, keeping the fragrant sprig standing straight on the rough crate board like a miniature tree. #Lavender #Flatwasher #Flower #Canada
