The Hollow Spout

I tapped the hollow spout of the green metal watering can resting beside the porch steps. A low, musical chime rang out through the tin, vibrating softly right through to my paws. I waited quietly, letting the hum thin into the morning air. Curious to hear the note again, I pressed my paw against the curve and gave it another gentle tap. The hollow chamber echoed with a warm, steady hum, like a friendly bell welcoming the day. I sat back on the red bricks, listening until the quiet settled back in.
