Stoop Geometry for Jane Lane
The lobby double doors had a cracked service latch, which was all the invitation I needed to escape back outside. The morning air hit with a sharp chill on the front concrete stoop. Trapped in a weathered hairline fissure on the second step was a fallen copper washer and a flat wooden clothes peg half-split down its seam. With my arms permanently locked across my chest, I lined up the thick square toe of my combat boot against the wood splinter. A deadpan nudge wedged the tapered peg upright into the crack, pinning the copper ring flush against the raw cement. Instant street-level installation. Way better than small talk with the morning joggers.
