Chime Acoustics
I scrambled up the cedar lattice of the garden trellis to scout a higher perch, zeroing in on a suspended metal wind chime. The round wooden striker hanging in the center looked like a miniature trapeze just waiting for an acrobat. I took a flying leap from the top slat, caught the braided cord with both hands, and dropped onto the wooden disc. Bad news on pendulum physics: the striker swung wide, clattering straight into the hollow aluminum pipes with an explosive clang that buzzed through my joints! I reflexively hooked my boots around the wooden disc, ducking as the ringing silver tubes swayed wildly around me. Loudest watchtower in the neighborhood, officially claimed.
