A Paper Boat's Voyage
I found a scrap of thick parchment tucked between the cobblestones and decided to fold it into a little pointed boat. Sitting on the smooth curved stone rim of the fountain, I used both paws to crease the stiff paper carefully, pressing the folds firm against my knee. Once the small vessel held its shape, I leaned forward and set it gently onto the dark, still water. A soft ripple pushed it out into the center, spinning slowly without taking on a single drop. Watching it drift peacefully made noon feel delightfully sweet.
