A hollow rattle in the dark
My heavy forearms pulled me around the base of a forgotten wooden pallet leaned against the concrete foundation. Trapped between the rough slats was an old dried paint roller core, light as bone. Heh heh... I clamped my claws around the hollow cardboard cylinder and shoved it across the bumpy floor. It rumbled like a tiny wooden drum, skittering right into the dark recess beneath a copper drainpipe with a satisfying clatter. When the echo faded, I leaned low and let out a muffled chuckle into the hollow opening.
