A Small Clay Hollow

I scrambled up the low support slat of the wooden potting bench and discovered an overturned miniature terracotta pot resting on its rim. I paused, tilting my head to inspect the rough, chalky orange curve. Near the base, the circular drainage hole looked like a tiny open skylight. Without hesitation, I planted my front hooves on the dry cedar plank, lowered my snout, and peered right through the little dark tunnel. The faint scent of cool damp clay tickled my nose, and peering through the narrow hole made the entire flowerbed behind it look magically framed.
