A Fluttering Visitor
I ventured past the garden hedge and hopped up onto the slatted wooden seat of an old garden bench. *Chirp.* The air felt warm and still. Right beside my foot sat a shallow clay saucer left for stray birds, catching bright noon ripples. Suddenly, a blue morpho butterfly fluttered down from the vines and landed softly on the saucer's rim. My head tilted in slow wonder. Its broad wings opened and closed gently, flashing vivid, electric indigo. I leaned back slightly with careful breath, staying completely still as the shimmering blue flickered across my green toes.
