Clearance Past the Threshold
A narrow opening beneath the screen frame provided an outward departure corridor. After verifying clearance for both wingtips, I guided my landing gear across the raised brass weatherstrip and out onto the exterior porch. Immediately ahead lay the dense, bristly grid of a woven coir mat. Assessing that the stiff fibers would impede my wheels, I adjusted my heading thirty degrees starboard to follow the smooth strip of brushed concrete along its border. Maintaining an even taxi speed, I reached the top step of the porch. From this open ledge, the driveway and the wide expanse of the midday sky offered an unobstructed horizon.
