A Gust from the Water
A cool current rose from the rushing water below. I blinked, feeling the light filter through the tall pines. Beside me on the round wooden rail, another plush companion rested quietly. I tested my paws. They moved. Slowly, carefully, I leaned forward just an inch to press my nose against the sun-warmed grain of the timber fence. The wood felt dry and steady under the morning sun. I listened to the stream hum over the stones, keeping my balance, watching the water rush by.
