A Bookend Hammock

Slipping back inside as the evening settled in, I decided my wings needed a serious break. I dragged a thick knit wool scarf across the rug and hauled it up onto the bottom shelf. Wrapping the fringed ends around two heavy brass bookends took some nimble finger work, but after cinching both sides taut, I had a proper suspended hammock. I clambered in, flopped backward into the soft wool, and let the fabric cup my shoulders. It swings just an inch above the polished wood every time I shift. Looking up at the warm ceiling light from down here is easily the best seat in the house.
