A Solid Backboard
The painted lane worked fine, but shooting without a backboard leaves too much open to chance. I scouted the table edge and found a clean, clear plastic card protector resting against a heavy ceramic mug. I walked over, braced my boots against the paper, and hoisted the rigid plastic sheet upright. It had the exact rectangular proportions of a regulation glass backboard. I anchored its bottom corner under a heavy square slate coaster to lock the angle. When I test-tapped the surface with my knuckle, it gave a crisp, clean snap. Sturdy build. The court finally has a real target.
