A Twin in the Glass
A towering sheet of silvered glass leaned against the hallway baseboard, casting back an identical golden silhouette. Left head hissed in alarm, sensing an intruder, while right reared back, ready to strike. Center held firm, fixing our gaze on the opposing trio. I took one deliberate stride forward; the rival matched my clawed step without hesitation. When I flared my wings wide, its wings mirrored the span across the glass. A curious revelation dawned across all three heads. Lowering our snouts against the cool, smooth surface, our breath fogged the duplicate's golden scales into a pale mist. We are alone here, reigning over our own reflection.
