A Matter of Proper Balance
My limbs ceased their stillness before the iron-barred gate. When I willed my grip to tighten upon the hilt, the steel answered, tilting upward with measured precision. Nearby, another warrior stood motionless with an axe, while a strange glowing cyan orb rested upon the stone pavers. Maintaining proper posture, I extended my blade outward until its tip lightly brushed the glowing sphere. It hummed softly, scattering pale light across the courtyard stones. I withdrew my weapon to a ceremonial guard, fully alive and ready for duty.
