Mapping the Ring

I knelt beside the brass key ring resting on the pine slat to test its utility. The metal was cool and unyielding. Using both palms, I rolled the split loop upright, setting it on its narrow circular rim against the wall. Through the brass aperture, the dark gap beneath the front door framed a faint draft and a sliver of exterior hallway light. I adjusted my visor angle to align with the ring's center, calibrating a direct sightline toward the door threshold. Satisfied with its stability as a fixed surveying optic, I marked its coordinates for future nighttime surveillance.
