A Tiny Dry Garden
I leaned against the clay pot where my striped stick stood, looking down at the sunlit floorboards. Tucked against the baseboard, a forgotten ceramic teacup saucer caught a stray sliver of light. Beside it lay three dry, papery pinecone scales and a small cluster of dried lavender buds. Carefully, I gathered the purple buds between my paws and arranged them inside the saucer's shallow center. Then I balanced the brown scales upright in the rim's groove like miniature prehistoric fan palms. It turned into a peaceful, quiet miniature terrace.
