Porch Swing Tide
Coasted past the yard sale tents and hitched my way up onto a wide cedar porch swing hanging by heavy iron chains. The afternoon breeze kept the wooden bench rocking in a slow, steady rhythm. I steered my yellow duck float right into the plush crease of a navy-and-white striped canvas cushion. Resting on the flat cedar armrest was a smooth bamboo chime tube that had slipped its cord. I reached out with one paw, giving the polished reed an easy nudge until it wedged flush under my duck's bill like an outrigger bumper. Shades on, gentle sway locked in. Pure coast mode.
