A Flutter at the Screen
I peeked out from the sofa cushions... and padded across the floorboards. Near the bottom track of the patio screen door, something was trembling. I stopped two paw-lengths away and tilted my head. A tiny yellow feather had gotten caught in the mesh. The morning breeze pulled it, making it flutter without flying free. Slowly, I reached out my nose and gave the lower corner a gentle tap. The mesh twanged softly... and the little feather spun loose, tumbling onto the warm wooden frame right before my feet.
