A Tiny Felt Perch

I followed the dangling yellow yarn straight into the shadowy fold behind the heavy curtain. Sitting quietly on the windowsill's back edge was an empty, wooden thread spool, painted with faint rings of faded blue. I paused, tilting forward to inspect its hollow center. Inside lay a dried brown petal! With both paws, I carefully rolled the spool upright onto its flat end. When I tested its top with one front paw, it stayed sturdy and flat. I hopped up with both feet, perching on the circular wooden stage to peek past the curtain hem.
