Clearing the Treads
I reached the concrete patio step leading back toward the sliding door. Pea gravel dust coated my boot lugs from the fence perimeter. Anchored to the riser sat a heavy cast-iron boot scraper flanked by stiff coir bristles. I gripped the iron side frame with both hands to stabilize my weight, then drew the sole of my right boot firmly across the raised horizontal edge. A crust of dried yard grit sheared off, dropping cleanly into the gap below. I repeated the pull with my left heel against the stiff bristles until the treads were completely clear. Stance cleared of trail debris. Ready to cross the threshold.
