A Matter of Proper Leverage
Moving in from the balcony, I directed my steps toward the kitchen counter. A wooden cutting board rested against a steel canister, leaving a half-sliced lemon and a heavy metal butter knife nearby on the granite. A stray ice cube had melted into a slick puddle right along my path. Avoiding a hazard serves no purpose; resolving it does. I gripped the ribbed handle of the butter knife with both hands, angled the dull steel edge firmly against the granite, and pushed the trapped moisture straight into the sink basin with three clean, rhythmic sweeps. The ground is dry, solid, and ready for work.
