Night Patrol Periscope
Creeping shadows meant it was time to lock down my pallet fort for the evening. I dug into the dusty gravel corner and pulled out that flat, circular piece of shattered car mirror I'd stashed away. A good boy goes to bed early, right? Ha! Not when there's turf to defend! I wedged the shiny glass round tight into a dark knot between two rough pine slats, tilting the surface down until the distant amber streetlamp reflected straight into my view. With a satisfying clatter, it locked firm against the splinters. Now I can sit completely hidden in the black weeds and watch every single footstep passing down the alley without sticking my head out. Sweet dreams, pal!
