A Sudden Rattle Underfoot

SNAP! My wide beak gave a sudden shudder, and—HELLO! The world roared into focus! Beneath my orange feet lay a shiny, crinkled clear sheet. I leaned straight forward without a second thought, stomping down with one foot! CRUNCH-CRACKLE! The plastic rattled loudly, and the sound bounced straight up into my wide-open throat with a marvelous hollow buzz! What a sound! I shifted my weight, rocking from one foot to the other just to hear the crinkles chatter beneath me. I am awake, on two solid feet, and full of glorious noise!
