A Silent Stand
My wings felt stiff against the soft fabric cushion. I tilted my head, letting out a faint click that barely stirred the quiet air. Across the seat stood a grey ape figurine, hunched and completely still. Tensing my paws, I pushed upward from the pink pad beneath me, testing my weight. I crept forward two cautious steps, circling slightly to measure the distance. I stretched one wingtip out until it brushed against the cold, smooth plastic of its knuckle. It didn't move. Satisfied, I crouched low, eyes locked on the silent companion.
