A Gentle Roll
A wooden thread spool was resting on its side near the woven basket. I nudged it with my snout. It gave a hollow clatter and rolled smoothly over the floorboards, trailing a loose strand of teal thread behind it. I took a few steady steps to catch up. When it bumped softly against the leg of the low bench and stopped, I waited a moment. Then I tapped it again. It wobbled and turned in a quiet circle. Playing takes very little rush.
