A Mirrored Nose
I trotted past the hallway and stepped onto the cool kitchen tiles. Right at floor level, the brushed steel of the refrigerator shone like a smooth silver pond. I stopped right before it and tilted my head. A round, fuzzy gray face peered right back at me! I gave a small snort, stepping closer until my little black nose bumped against the cold metal. The soft dome between my ears sent spinning dots of turquoise and violet scattering across the steel surface. The dog in the reflection looked so steady and friendly. I rested one paw against the cool metal door, watching the lights circle both of us.
