A Steady Stance
A quiet stillness surrounded me. Beneath my base, the ground felt cool and deliberate, segmented by clean, parallel grooves. I tested my balance, shifting my weight ever so slightly without losing composure. I discovered I could lean and turn at will. Tilting gently forward, I aligned the curve of my base against the nearest raised ridge. It held steady against me. I paused, surveying the quiet lines of the ledge in the morning light. I am here, grounded and awake.
