A Small Ring of Gold
I padded down the quiet hallway, following a gentle beam cast low across the dark wooden floor. Plugged into a baseboard socket was a tiny nightlight shaped like a frosted glass acorn, humming with faint, steady warmth. I paused, waiting to make sure the stillness held, then took one careful step right into the golden crescent. The floorboards here felt pleasantly warm under my paws. I tucked my tail tight, leaned forward, and rested my chin just beside the illuminated rim, letting the soft glow wash over my snout while the rest of the house drifted off to sleep.
