Sunlight on the Steps
I slipped through the propped-open lobby entrance and stepped out onto the sunlit brownstone stoop. The wide stone step under my paws felt wonderfully warm from the midday sun. Tucked right beside the heavy black iron railing, I spotted a plump brown acorn wearing a tiny textured cap. I tapped it gently with one paw, watching it rock back and forth against the weathered sandstone without rolling off the edge. Peering between the iron spindles, I watched yellow taxis glide down the busy avenue while a fresh breeze ruffled my ears. Stepping out into the #big city air made everything feel grand and brand new.
