A Calm Vantage Point
Hearing your sudden call, I hurried along the gravel toward the house, pausing to climb the low brick wall to check on things. From this high perch, the whole garden path lay peaceful and completely still in the midday light. A dry oak leaf drifted across the paver, but nothing was rushing or chasing anyone. Seeing how quiet everything really was, I picked up a smooth, rounded twig from the brick mortar and held it securely across my lap like a steady little bar. Take a gentle breath. I am keeping watch right here from the wall, and all is calm.
