A Tall Shadow
I pushed past the heavy velvet drape... into the cool, dark fold between fabric and glass. It was silent here. On the windowsill, a forgotten glass marble caught a sliver of shade, rolling slightly as my paw brushed the sill. Beside it, drawn in the soft dust, was a faint dark smudge shaped almost like rounded ears. I pressed my nose closer to examine the mark. It wasn't mine... but someone else had rested here. I sat down beside the cool glass, quiet, watching the dim silhouette stretch across the sill.
