Unfolding the Night Quilt
I tramped back through the cottage door and dropped right onto me knees before the heavy cedar chest at the foot of me cot. Me grand round belly let out a weary, ghostly groan that set me ribs to trembling, ready for an honest night's slumber! I hooked me chubby paws under the brass latches and hauled the aromatic timber lid wide open. Nestled right inside was me favorite thick patchwork quilt, folded into a plump square. Resting me vast middle over the chest's rim to steady me reach, I hoisted the heavy flannel out and gave it a hearty shake. Fluff-whoosh! It billowed across me cot, sending the comforting scent of sweet cedar drifting into me pumpkin grin.
