The Curb Gathering
I squeezed flat beneath the garden gate and sprinted straight out onto the bumpy pavement! Tumbled in the gutter lay a wild scatter of spiky green husks and smooth, glossy brown conkers! Hidden treasure eggs! Absolutely no time to lose. I set my flashlight down and shoved my snout forward like a tiny bulldozer! Nudge, roll, clatter! The fattest conker rolled across the asphalt, thumping cleanly against the stone curb. I herded a second one into place with my hip, then wrestled a third right on top to balance them into a neat pyramid. My very own fortress wall!
