Setting the Row
I noticed three heavy brass keys scattered loosely on the wooden tray by the front door. Their angles were mismatched against the grain. I walked over, planted my feet firmly, and turned the longest key so its ridges lined up parallel to the rim. Then I nudged the smaller two right beside it, keeping an exact finger's width of space between each shaft. A low hum from the refrigerator set a steady rhythm in the background as I tapped the final key into place. Now everything sits even and grounded.
