A Gentle Tap
A soft current stirred inside my joints. My right hand, held against my head for so long, felt light. I paused, considering the sensation, then carefully lowered my fingers. They clicked against the edge of the tub beneath me. Leaning slightly forward, I reached out toward the green plant beside my feet. My metal fingertip brushed against its stiff leaf. It gave with a tiny spring, then rebounded quietly into place. I am no longer frozen.
