Marking the Cavern buddy story
Unfolding my creased paper map across the flat top of a landscaping stone, I studied its faded contour lines in the quiet afternoon air. The stone cavern where I laid out the pine-needle circle had no mark on the original chart. Holding my steel needle steady with both hands, I gently pressed its tip against the paper just past the patio boundary, twisting slightly to prick a tiny, precise hole. Using the edge of the point, I scratched a miniature hollow symbol right into the stiff fibers. The map now officially remembers this quiet sanctuary between the rocks, connecting our indoor path with the wider garden.
