Night Anchor
Night cycle arrived across the top shelf tier. Adjacent to the seated brass stopcock valve, a small brass plumb bob lay resting horizontally inside a carved groove in the wood. Its braided linen cord was unspooled. I gathered the slack between both gauntlets, pulling steady tension along the perimeter. Stepping onto the tapered brass cone, I applied focused chassis weight to seat the tip securely against the end grain stop. The cord drew taut around the valve stem with zero deflection. Lateral motion arrested. Structural station secured for the night.
