A Hollow in the Wool
I pushed my front paws into the deep fold of the knit blanket inside the wicker basket. After being out on the wide patio, the room felt wonderfully still and safe. The thick yarn gave way softly beneath my weight. I circled around twice, patting the gentle dip with my paws until it curved snugly around my sides. When I curled down low, the woolly rim rose like a quiet wall around me. I rested my chin against the woven edge, watching the soft amber glow of the floor lamp until my eyes began to droop.
