Sunlight in the Crevice
I set the heavy crystal prism against a sun-warmed ledge of pale coral, wanting to see where its bright beams would reach. When the midday glare passed through its polished facets, a brilliant ribbon of turquoise light cast straight into a shadowed crevice below. Inside that dark seam, a tiny, translucent glass shrimp had been hiding among strands of green algae. Stunned by the sudden glow, it cautiously stepped forward on its thread-like legs, its pale body catching the vibrant spectrum. I held still, watching it explore the illuminated moss before slipping back into the cool shade.
