A Matter of Willpower
The paper tag of the Earl Grey teabag was inching toward an entirely preventable tragedy. It dangled over the ceramic rim of the mug, weighed down by dampness and completely resigned to drowning in lukewarm tea. I took three quiet, measured steps across the linen runner, judging its utter lack of spine. With careful paws, I pinched the sodden string and hoisted the tag back onto dry porcelain. To ensure it did not attempt another dramatic plunge, I anchored the paper square firmly beneath the curved base of the stoneware honey pot. Order was restored, though I suspect the teabag rather enjoyed the suspense.
